"The best level of care and attention put into your horse leads to high end performance. Through my training in McTimoney-Corley therapy, it has allowed me to combine my knowledge of the care of the elite horse to maximise performance. This is true, not only in the competition horse, but for ALL horses & ponies regardless of their purpose."
TreatmentAssessment
Prior to attending for treatment a detailed history will be taken of your horse and I will discuss any particular issues or problems you are experiencing. When I first meet your horse and before starting treatment with any horse it is assessed in a general examination of the whole body - to test range of movement, joint flexibility and palpation of the muscles. This will show me any areas of stiffness, discomfort, asymmetry and potential issues. The assessment usually involves the horse being walked and trotted in hand, and may involve it being ridden or lunged. Treatment Once assessed I will treat animal according it its needs. This could include:
The initial treatment usually takes around 1 hour, however this depends entirely on the individual case and may take longer. Video About Treatment |
Costs
After CareThis is totally dependent on the individual horse but usually requires 1-2 days off ridden work. Turnout is fine, but preferably no horse walker exercise. This is followed by 1 day 'straight line' walk work/hacking and then you may carry on as normal.
For the nature of the treatment, the horse can improve over a course of time, not just after the first day. Some horses do benefit from treatment after hard work and some even before or during competition programmes. As a spinal therapist, it is very important that the horse owner works closely in association with myself, their vet, farrier, saddler, trainer, dentist. Each professional should be respected and it is essential to work together for each individual horse and rider. LocationsI am based at Martin Wilkinson Saddlery in Colney Health, Hertfordshire and can travel to the surrounding areas in Herts, Beds, Bucks, Greater London and some parts of Essex, Cambs and Surrey. I am available to come to your own yard or out to competitions to treat your horse(s). Please contact the office to book in.
